VeggieTales is the Latin American dub of said show in the Spanish language.

The series was initially dubbed during late 1996-1997/1998 in Chile at dubbing studio DINT Doblajes Internacionales. A new dub was produced in Ecuador at HCJB - Televozandes and in Miami at BVI Communications Inc. from 2006 to 2008. The new dub's cast also reprised their roles in the Latin Spanish dub of VeggieTales on TV (VeggieTales en la tele).

Fun Facts[]

Trivia[]

  • For an unknown reason, a huge chunk of episodes have not been dubbed in Latin Spanish, but were instead saved for when the TV series was dubbed, this was most likely due to budget cuts.
  • Starting with the English release of Duke and the Great Pie War, the English DVD releases have both English and Spanish subtitles.
  • In the original Latin Spanish dub of Rack, Shack and Benny, all singing parts in Dance of the Cucumber (except for the ending) are left undubbed, being acknowledged by the announcer claiming Bob translates the song into English.
  • In the Latin Spanish dub of Where's God When I'm S-Scared?, the "baby pickle" joke is removed by having Junior say "Ummm…uhhhh…" instead of "A baby pickle?"
  • In the Latin Spanish dubs of Are You My Neighbor? and Rack, Shack and Benny, the letters and their senders are changed.
  • In the Latin Spanish version of God Made You Special, the French Peas insert the letter "g" into some words with the letter "r."
  • The foreign cut for the original 1996-1997 version of this dub was carried into the Arabic and Japanese dubs, seeming that those were the versions the studios were given. The Silly Song title cards and the Qwerty animation are easier to spot when distinguishing between the first foreign cut (used here) and the original American versions.
    • However, Dave and the Giant Pickle uses a different foreign cut in the original Latin Spanish dub (like the reprints of the original Latin Spanish dubs of the first two episodes using the American cut); In this case, it entirely keeps the American visuals intact, with localizations plastered onscreen and the unedited original Big Idea logo intact (which the original Latin Spanish cuts of the other five episodes don't have). This could be because either that was the version the studio was given (DINT usually dubs content with the generic 1990s foreign cut), or the only 1990s foreign cut of this episode had The Hairbrush Song (as seen in the Arabic dub which this episode's foreign cut was most likely produced for) and no such version of it with Love My Lips exists.
  • Another Latin Spanish dub was planned around 2004 and was set to be released in Chile by Top Tape, but it was scrapped. Nothing is known about the dubbing studio, the voice actors, or the staff who worked on the dub.
  • Half of the series' episodes which were dubbed for use on VeggieTales en la tele (i.e. A Snoodle's Tale, Sumo of the Opera, and the second dub of Are You My Neighbor?) were planned to be released to DVD, but were scrapped for reasons unknown.
    • However, the HCJB/BVI dubs of said episodes with half of the unreleased dubbed material were oddly being leaked onto YouTube by the Dibujos Animados en Español and VeggieTales en Español channels as of 2019 and 2020 respectively.
    • The Wonderful Wizard of Ha's was also dubbed at HCJB - Televozandes, but it has not been released.

Remarks[]

  • In the original dub, some characters go through different voices as follows:
    • Bob possibly has different voice actors for speaking and singing.
      • On a similar note, Bob's voice differs in the original versions of the first two episodes. This is due to the voices not being pitch shifted.
    • Larry sometimes goes through multiple singing voices in the same episode, even though his voice actor is the same across all episodes.
  • The first editions of the Latin Spanish dubs of Where's God When I'm S-Scared? and God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?! had the video cropping zoomed in a bit, along with blurry videotape quality. The quality was fixed in the reprints of these two episodes.
  • The first edition of the Latin Spanish dub of God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?! uses the theme song from Where's God When I'm S-Scared?. When both of these episodes were reprinted, the 1994 theme song was plastered on both episodes, fixing it up only for God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?! but making it rather odd for Where's God When I'm S-Scared? to have it.
    • Where's God When I'm S-Scared? would also get this in the first edition of its Arabic dub.
  • The subtitles on Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Samson's Hairbrush are simply translated from the English script and don't match with the actual Latin Spanish dialogue.
  • This dub sometimes dubs in additional non-verbal noises for characters when they weren't present in the original English version.
  • The following edits are done to Moe and the Big Exit whenever it airs on Canal 27:
    • The theme song is the 2004-2006 one, rather than the 2007-2009 one.
    • The unedited American visuals are used, despite the visuals being localized for the DVD release.

Goofs[]

  • In the Latin Spanish dub of Where's God When I'm S-Scared?, when Bob starts singing the first half of God is Bigger after telling Junior he doesn't need to call the police, Bob and Larry both sing without Larry's mouth moving.
  • In the original Latin Spanish dub of Rack, Shack and Benny, an alternate Silly Song title card was used and at the end of Dance of the Cucumber, after the first time Bob chases Larry to the left side of the screen and just before they appear the second time onscreen, an animation error shows Bob running to the right side of the screen just before Larry appears to run to the right. This error also made it into the Arabic and Japanese dubs of the episode.
    • In said dub of said song, Bob and Larry go behind the Silly Song text due to it being simply pasted on the scene rather than edited in a way that would allow 3D models to go in front of it, unlike the German dub from the later years that would instead use photoshopped-like techniques of professionally censoring the English text.
  • In the original versions of the first two episodes, Bob says "VerdiCuentos" in the countertop intro. In the reprinted versions of said episodes (with the La Bamba font on the covers), Bob's opening line was spliced in from Rack, Shack and Benny where he says "VeggieTales", due to "VerdiCuentos" being a translation error.
  • In the original prints of Where's God When I'm S-Scared?, King Darius is refered as King Nebuchadnezzar, this was fixed on the reprints.
  • In Rack, Shack and Benny, Laura's line "Yes, Mr. Lunt" is missing.
  • In Duke and the Great Pie War, the line "Sire yes sire!" is missing.
  • The Latin Spanish dub of Dave and the Giant Pickle, "David y el Pepino Gigante" was retitled "Dave y el Pepinillo Gigante" for the re-dub, due to the Spanish term "Pepino" meaning "Cucumber" in English. "Pepinillo" means "Pickle" in English, and of course, Goliath is not a cucumber.
    • Also in the original version of David y el pepino gigante, in the credits there is no animation for Larry Boy falling down when all of the sounds of him supposed to fall down are still there
    • The description for Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Samson's Hairbrush also commits the same mistake, referring to Larry as a pickle as well.
  • In the Spanish credits for The Ballad of Little Joe, Archibald is credited as "Archibald Espárrag."
    • Pa Grape is also credited as "PA Uva" with his first name all in capitals, enough to mistake for an abbreviation or initials.
  • In the original Latin Spanish dubs of the first two episodes, Bob's voice was not pitch-shifted up when saying his line "Have we got a show for you!" This was corrected in the V1.1 VHS editions of the original Latin Spanish dubs for the first two episodes.
    • Normally, VeggieTales characters' voices would be pitch-shifted up (likely three semitones), but errors with pitch-shifting the voices occasionally happen in the English version of the show, too.
  • In the episodes dubbed by HCJB - Televozandes, Larry introduces himself as a pickle rather than a cucumber.
  • The slogan on the back cover for The Ballad of Little Joe misspells "mañana" as "manaña."
    • The verse in said episode is "Y sabemos que a los que aman a Dios, todas las cosas les ayudan a bien..." on Qwerty's screen, but Larry says "Y sabemos que Dios dispone todas las cosas para bien de quien los aman..."
      • Something similar happens in Where's God When I'm S-Scared?. In this episode, The verse is "No temas, porque estoy contigo", but Bob says "No temas, porque estoy con ustedes".
  • In the second Latin Spanish dub for Dave and the Giant Pickle, the credits show the English voice actors.
    • This also happens on the TV series.
  • In Daniel and The Lion's Den, the scallions' voices are not consistent and change throughout the episode
  • The line "Is welcome as flowers that bloom in the Spring" is very high pitched.
